Academics

Faculty plays a central role in the study abroad experience. We bring together U.S. Faculty, International faculty and local experts in order to explore a wide-range of topics. Courses are designed to maximize the use of the city as an extension of the classroom so that students can maximize their time visiting the numerous wondrous sites and museums Florence and Italy has to offer.

The broad curriculum allows students to earn credits in general requirements and e-series courses in a number of areas of study (see link below). Professors on the Florence Abroad program teach a variety of courses allowing most majors to seamlessly progress in their academic careers. Students are thus able to experience Florence, Italy, and Europe while continuing their education at Florida State University. The small class sizes and individual attention make for a rewarding academic experience.

The Florence Abroad program also caters to First Year Abroad Students. Classes offered specifically for the First Year Abroad program have limited enrollment so that these students can have extensive personal contact with their professors and the study center staff. We strive to help students as they adjust to life in Florence.
